There are not many things in life which improve with age but a
hand crafted dining table from Rocco Interiors is one of these.
Our tables are superior because of the way they are constructed
and finished.
This process starts at the timber yard where all the timbers to
be used in any piece are carefully hand selected.
The table is hand joined and hand polished. Only a small handful
of craftsman, mostly overseas trained, know how to polish and age
fruitwoods and oaks to the standard we achieve at Rocco.

The stain we use is an ancient recipe brewed from hazelnut husks.
The polish is then applied with a squirrel hair brush and then later
with a pad known as a 'rubber'.
Over fifty coats in all are applied, before being left to harden
after which a final protective coat of beeswax is applied.
In construction we use no dowels, nails or glue. Our joints are
hand cut and held together by pegs fashioned from green willow.
With these we pin the floating tenon joins on the table top and
the mortice & tenon joints which secure the leg to the rail.
This labour intensive process allows the table to move slightly
and so avoid cracking along the grain in times of extremes in temperature.
